About the Work

NATURE’S NUMBERS Making an impact with data by letting nature speak for itself. CHALLENGE The climate crisis has arrived in Germany. But still, the urgency to act against it isn’t fully in everyone’s mind yet – despite nature’s increasingly alarming numbers. Sheer statistics have become a background noise lacking an emotional charge. The question then becomes how can data be presented in a more impactful way? IDEA We let nature speak for itself: a melting iceberg depicts the loss of the Arctic ice area. A menacing wildfire shows the trend of globally rising temperatures. And a shrinking rainforest presents the statistics of annual tropical tree cover loss. In this way, the unsettling numbers of the climate crisis can actually feel unsettling once more. EXECUTION A national awareness campaign for the WWF turned the 2021 German federal elections into climate change elections. Using complex 3D imagery that accurately represents data from NASA and the World Research Institute we created dramatic visualisations that translated brainy statistics into a language our hearts can understand. Thus convincing voters that this election was not only about a new government – but our final chance to vote for the climate. RESULTS Up to all of us.
