Football is at an inflection point. It can either represent the best of humanity, or the worst. And too often we are seeing the game represent the worst version of us. This is shaking people’s belief in the game forcing them further and further away from football.
By restoring their faith in the power of football we showed the world what this sport is capable of. This generation is desperate to make change, improve their lives, and ultimately make the world a better place. They are in the perfect position to benefit from all that football has to offer—the best of the game.
The Land of New Football is like the old one, minus the nonsense. We imagined football as a land made of ALL the pitches in the world – celebrating the scale and power of the well over 3 billion players and fans who play on their own terms, and saying no to the out-dated ways of the game. The idea sets a new vision for global football where there is room for all, treating the community as a nation.
In this film the new generation of players declare their independence from the old ways of the game, and establish the values of New Football. The film features a wide variety of athletes, from professional footballers like Marcus Rashford, Sara Däbritz and Richarlison, to JJ Roble, the UK’s first Muslim referree, and local football communities around Europe like Alesia FC in France or Football Beyond Borders in the UK. Showcasing the real diversity, scale and power that football has beyond what is usually seen in the media, and welcoming everyone to join and enjoy the game.
