About the Work
Day After Day is a short film that speaks directly to men who are using, or at-risk of using, gender-based violence as a response to the stresses of COVID-19 lockdowns. It was made for White Ribbon, the largest movement of men and boys promoting healthier masculinity and an end to all forms of gender-based violence.
The script uses the same set of words to tell two different stories of isolation: a man trapped with his own negative thoughts and emotions, and his family trapped at home with him. This narrative structure required that we analyze every word to ensure it was relevant to the drastically difference experiences of both characters. The viewer is led to believe at first that the male character is suffering. Later, we realize his family is suffering even more.
