About the Work
To coincide with the launch of the much-anticipated Bond film No Time To Die, DHL wanted a TVC to highlight the timeliness & precision behind the success of their 15 year Official Logistics Partnership with EON Productions - delivering vital film equipment, props, even actors, to worldwide film locations.
We knew the overall production design for the TVC would always be held up against the film we were promoting. Bond fans are a tough audience. And for this reason, every choice we made was critical - Accuracy and authenticity was key.
This then is a story of cinematic film-making. Large format cameras and anamorphic lenses to deliver Bond fans what could conceivably be an extra scene from a Bond movie. A story of production design & styling authentic to the Bond World - The actual DB5 from No Time To Die (this one featured in the Matera scenes of the film). And a cast that could be from both a Bond film or a DHL TVC.
Securing the DOP from the recently wrapped No Time To Die production, allowed us to make framing and lighting choices that closely reflected the Bond universe - LED Skypanel cranes colouring Bangkok a shade of night-time Shanghai, across multiple locations around the city.
Complementary production design transformed these evocative night-time locations into authentic Shanghai streets, styled, propped, lit and populated with authentic cast & wardrobe.
For discerning Bond fans, the TVC had to be nothing less than a convincing representation of the Bond world. From the many comments posted by those fans across Twitter, Instagram and 007.com, we achieved our goal, and in doing so added something to Bond culture.
