Printing By Wind
To meet future demands on quality, specialization and sustainability, two of Sweden’s (and Europe’s) foremost printing companies joined forces to create a unique and comprehensive offering: everything from world-class art printing to large format printing for entire spaces, all produced with minimal negative impact on the environment.
The entire production is powered by their own wind power.
We made that the foundation of both the name and identity.
The new company was named By Wind. A name that encompasses the broad offering (Art Printing By Wind, Commercial Printing By Wind, Architecture Printing By Wind), can highlight specific technologies (e.g. Foil Printing By Wind) and collaborations (e.g. Bukowskis By Wind).
Given the central meaning of wind-power, the logotype conveys, in real-time, the wind force and power generated at the printing facility. The icon can be applied in a range of formats from 5x5 pixels to 5x5 cardboard boxes. In a world full of mock-ups, By Wind wants to inspire real printing. Using 3x2 meter sized sheets, we animated the icon on site at the printing facility in a classic flip-chart fashion, and 25 boxes on a pallet were arranged into a rotating animation. A motion also bringing the rhythmic work of the printing press to mind.
The other design elements are developed to take care of large amounts of information and energize the whole category. The directness and attitude of a media house, more dynamic than static and more digital than analog. All to reach the market through all channels and challenge an old-fashioned image of the printing business.
2022 it is not enough to be the Nordic’s top quality printing company. Not even to be the Nordics’ most sustainable printing company. You need to be both. At the same time.
