About the Work
Chornobyl is being erased by time and swallowed by nature. So are your chances to see Chornobyl. in order to invite people to this vanishing place we created a vanishing logo.
The logo is based on the shape of the fourth reactor — the place where the tragedy began. Every year the logo changes and gradually disappears, until one day it fades away for good just like the danger presented by the Chornobyl exclusion zone.
The vanishing logo creates a whole visual system around itself. Its fluidity makes any item not just a souvenir, but a collectors’ item from a particular year. TheTime itself stands as a main visual character.
The logo of Chornobyl is a countdown to an important date. It will disappear in 2064, when Chornobyl Power Plant gets completely decommissioned.
This will mark the beginning of a new cycle of Chornobyl’s history. And it will require new visual solutions.
