For 50 years, the Gold Pencil has been regarded as one of the top prizes in the creative industry. The One Show has had a rich legacy of honoring some of the most groundbreaking ideas, created by some of the most remarkable minds in creativity.
About the Work
The Persian Empire, despite its profound influence, is often overlooked in Western reviews of ancient history. This oversight inspired the Getty Villa to mount a sweeping exhibition of the ancient superpower, Persia: Ancient Iran and the Classical World. To reach an even wider global audience, we created a complimentary immersive WebGL experience to transport visitors to a historically-accurate recreation of the capital of Persia, Persepolis. By exploring palaces and plazas, visitors learned about the rich heritage of ancient Iran by seeing artifacts from the exhibition in context. Persepolis Reimagined both informs and inspires, reviving the past for a modern audience.
