About the Work
After a couple years of sitting around our homes ordering stuff online, it was time to remind people why experiencing the world is so important.
But we also had an important product message to get across.
We had to tell people how Expedia helps make travel experiences so much better, through very specific messages about products and services.
But instead of getting too tricksy with our product message or trying to cleverly say it in flowery language, we just said it. Plain and simple. And we said it in the first few lines.
Then we surrounded that product message with some beautiful and unexpected words that highlighted motifs that exist all over the world.
Some motifs were fun and frivolous – like 'Lemons', and some were full of insight – like 'Nothing'.
With these two language styles juxtaposed, we created ads that kept people's attention, and they walked away knowing what Expedia offers travelers. Win win.
