About the Work

Neglect is a serious problem. Nearly 60,000 children faced threats to their physical and emotional health last year. Yet most people are unaware of the extent of this problem. A fact that SOS-Kinderdorf wants to change. The non-profit organization acts according to the guiding principle: Everyone needs a family. It is dedicated to supporting children and families in need and wants to draw attention to the suffering of children in our midst. With the emotional single online film "Invisible to Society", SOS-Kinderdorf uses invisibility to fight for more visibility. The camera direction of the film creates an oppressive, almost claustrophobic atmosphere. Static shots put the focus on the suffering of the children. We mainly showed particulars of the setting that depict neglect. Targeted lighting elements direct the viewer's attention to details of the dark, depressing scenery. The fractal editing captures the children's discomfort in their everyday lives. In the special effects, we worked with transparency to give the impression that the children disappear in this inappropriate setting for children.
