Kathmandu encourages outdoors enthusiasts to cram in every ‘out there’ adventure they can this summer, by waving goodbye to sleep. Its power over us gone, the symbols of sleep get repurposed. Pillows become campfire marshmallows, nocturnal animals are your best mates and sheep nod off counting humans. The music behind this surreal tale is Brazilian classic, ‘Jimmy Renda-Se’, by Tom Zé. An unhinged track that slips between Portuguese, English and gibberish – not only providing momentum for the film, but also the dialogue for the characters. A secret language known only to the group of friends.
