About the Work

Virtual influencers are fast dominating the face of the digital world. With pixel-perfect faces and bodies, sadly much of what society considers to be “flaws” are removed. Of the 200+ virtual influencers on Instagram in early 2022, not a single one represented the disability community. So, we set out to prove that diversity is possible in the virtual world, partnering with Down Syndrome International to make the digital landscape more inclusive for the next generation. The solution was Kami - the world's first virtual influencer with Down Syndrome. To reach our target audience of young people around the world, Kami became a vehicle for provocative and compelling storytelling on behalf of Down Syndrome International, and a completely unique way of sharing the perspectives of a collective of real young women in the Down Syndrome community through a single virtual human. The mere existence of Kami changed the conversation almost instantly. Since Kami's birth, she appeared as the guest of honour and first virtual model with a disability present at Brazil Immersive Fashion Week 2022. She partnered Vogue photographer Gabriel DeSante to launch the first pocket-metaverse dedicated to Down Syndrome awareness. She collaborated with world renowned virtual fashion house Studio Acci to launch a clothing line. She was a key speaker at Influence Day Milan, a podcast guest, and she has an upcoming exhibition at Palais Augmenté Paris. Kami has garnered $10M in earned media across global, regional business, daily news, popular culture, lifestyle, tech, design and AI publications. Interest in Kami extended to interview requests from prominent publications including Dazed Beauty, Elle Magazine UK, The UnSeen Beauty, Purple Goat Agency, FLU Agency Italy, and Wix.com. She is 1 of 35 verified virtual influencers on Instagram, and the first virtual influencer with a disability to be verified. She has been shared organically in 16 languages and by globally recognised influencers like @shudu.gram (239k), @grace_strobel (116k), and @elliejg16_zebedeemodel (85.4k). Kami is the catalyst the world needed to start acting on a truly inclusive metaverse. She is an agent of change, a revolutionary, and she has catapulted DSI into the spotlight as the leading charity working towards inclusion in the digital space.
