If you haven’t noticed, the entertainment world is saturated with an almost endless supply of home shows. There’s even an entire entertainment network dedicated to homes 24/7 (looking at you HGTV). Yet, we noticed one type of home that was completely overlooked: the home you live in when you head off to college – the dorm room. So, to launch Amazon’s Off to College collection of products (designed to make the most of these very unique “homes”), we made the only home show left to make: Dorm Roomz. But instead of A-List celebrities showing off their lavish mansions, our show starred real college-going influencers from all over the country — Including up-and-coming actor Storm Reid (USC) and US Olympian Suni Lee (Auburn) — flexing their more relatable dorm room spaces. Embracing this financial and spatial juxtaposition, each influencer took viewers on a tongue-in-cheek tour of their dorm rooms filled with affordable items from Amazon – all handpicked by the influencers themselves. Dorm Roomz was also an unscripted series, giving influencers the chance to speak to products organically in their own unique voices. Speaking of organic, we had each influencer share their episode on their own social channels so their millions of followers wouldn’t miss out. The content series effectively highlighted Amazon’s attainable range of college products while providing style and décor inspiration from influencers to incoming and current college students alike. Each episode was completely shoppable too, with customers being able to shop our influencer’s individually-curated dorms on Amazon.
