There aren’t many poets who can distinguish themselves as a legendary “poet rock star”. Yet, with a Tony, Emmy and a few advertising awards under his belt, Poetri stands out as one of the most unique talents out there. To regard him as just a poet would be underestimating his abilities. He has appeared in, created, written, and/or produced well over 300 commercials for print, radio and TV. Some of his clients include Nike, Reebok, Delta Airlines, JBL, Snickers and BET (just to name a few). He was a writer/producer on Heaven Sent on FOX.

He has traveled all over world from Australia to New Zealand to Switzerland performing and teaching writing workshops and entertaining thousands! His personality has landed him in such movies as “National Treasure 2”, “Blades of Glory” and “Yes Man” with Jim Carrey. Some of his television appearances include, “Oprah Winfrey Show”, “Tyler Perry’s ‘House of Payne’”, “Bones” and several others. Nothing, however, tops his personal invitation by former President, Barack Obama to be a part of the first annual Spoken Word event held at the White House.

His work doesn’t stop there. Poetri is the former host and co-founder of the largest weekly poetry venue in the nation. Da’ Poetry Lounge has an attendance of over 360 people every Tuesday and has been around for 20 years. Da’ Poetry Lounge has not only broadened the appeal of spoken word in Los Angeles, but has become a haven for young people to come and express their emotions in a positive atmosphere. For the past 12 years, Poetri took his popularity in the Spoken Word community, added some comedy, and founded another popular show in Los Angeles called Spoken Funk. With two of the HOTTEST Spoken Word venues in Southern California, legendary “poet rock star” doesn’t even live up to the value Poetri has brought to spoken word/entertainment/advertising scene. Yet, he remains grounded and convicted in his beliefs, which has kept him loved by many.
