With over 20 years' experience in the advertising game, both at home in New Zealand, and the UK, Tony reckons he's seen massive shifts in the way it's being played over that time. Mostly for the better. He's had the privilege of concepting a restaurant 20 metres up a tree for a client (the award-winning Yellow Treehouse Restaurant campaign), then actually getting to eat a three course dinner up there. And the thrill of standing 3 metres away from a dog actually driving a car for the first time in the world (the award-winning MINI/SPCA Driving Dogs campaign), or selling electronic headphones totally submerged in a bottle of water (the award-winning SONY Bottled Walkman campaign).
Today, sitting back in the FCB Auckland office as ECD, he's helping create and guide work that just a few years ago he, along with entire industry, would have laughed out of the office – and straight off to the funny-farm. Yes. Lots has changed. But he wouldn't have it any other way…
