As Head of Creative for Hulu, Donaton leads GreenHouse, an in-house studio that oversees creative for the Hulu brand and its Original, live and licensed content. His team produces content marketing campaigns that span all channels, including TV, digital, social and experiential. In addition, he leads Hulu’s efforts to develop and execute innovative advertising opportunities for brand partners including custom content.

Prior to joining Hulu, Donaton was Global Chief Creative Officer at Digitas, leading the agency's worldwide creative practice, which includes brand creative, content, experience design and production capabilities. Donaton also served as Head of Content for The Americas for Publicis Media.

Before joining Digitas, Donaton was Global Chief Content Officer at Interpublic Group’s UM and head of UM Studios. He led a team of award-winning content creatives, strategists and producers around the globe who developed content programs for brands. Donaton first joined Interpublic as the founder of Ensemble, a branded-content agency where he served as CEO from 2009 till 2013.

Donaton coined the phrase “Madison & Vine” and is the author of the book by the same name. The book helped launch the modern branded-content movement by declaring that the entertainment and advertising industries need to converge to survive in the digital age. A longtime journalist and media executive, Donaton also served as publisher of Entertainment Weekly and editor and publisher of Advertising Age.

Donaton's work has won numerous industry awards, including Cannes Lions, Clios and Effies. He was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Achievement and named a Mediapost All-Star. In 2019, Donaton served as president of the Entertainment jury for the second time at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
