In early 2017 MTV international approached me to contribute to their artist ident series. The intent of the series was to tap into the visual experimentation the network had been know for during its inception in the 80s. The brief asked that the ident revolve around the idea of technology and that it end on their iconic logo.

It's rare that you get to work for a client with such a rich history in animation and it was important for me to reference that fact. I landed on the concept of taking the viewer through the different eras MTV has played a part in. Each landscape features different relics and references to the 80s, 90s and early 00s that MTV has outlived. The final scene reveals the classic MTV logo and updates it with a lightning strike.

The ident was used internationally between broadcasts throughout the year.

My Role was:

I independently directed, illustrated and animated the ident. The sound design was done by Vincent Simpson.
