Achtung had been working with KPN (a large internet provider in the Netherlands) to create a series of animated shorts in celebration of pride month. The "Fabulously Ever After" series revolved around reinventing fairytales to make them less heteronormative. Each short centers around a true narrative that is repackaged as a fairytale through clever copy and animation.
The tale I was given is about two train conductors, Paul and Bjorn, and their quest to start a family. Their wish is answered when their colleague Nora volunteers to carry their child. When the team at Achtung sent the script I immediately had the idea of using a train ride as the storytelling device to push the story along. The environments the train passed through would capture the mood of the story at different moments.
I included the final sound design version as well as a scratch english voice-over translation.
I independently directed, illustrated and animated this piece.
