The Continent is a self-initiated series of fictional objects and images that explore identity politics. In this project I use CGI, animation and graphic design to explore the intersections of my cultural identity as a Pakistani-Sri Lankan immigrant raised in the United States. The result is a series of digital artifacts, each of which is created by interposing different objects, elements, and languages from the three worlds of my upbringing together.

To realize this project I began by creating digital models of various objects rooted in Islamic, Buddhist, and Christian traditions. I then repeated this process with glyphs and illustrations common to South Asia. By forcibly combining these elements in strange and often unharmonious ways, the resulting images attempt to expand the viewers idea of a South Asian aesthetic a contemporary aesthetic, born out of plurality and diaspora.
