Vienna is famous for its ubiquitous ball-room dancing culture, everyone dances in Vienna. However, the Austrian white dresses and bow ties had been missing the best that Austria has to offer: Conchita Wurst. As rightful heir of the Austrian folklore, the LGTBQ community celebrates the Rainbow ball every year. An inclusive event where Abba and other Eurovision hits are woven with the traditional waltz and the Fledermaus Quadrille. This was a commission video from Culture Trip that should attract users into reading a larger article about the event, showing one of the most regal and elegant events of the queer community.

My Role was:

I wrote, designed and animated the whole piece with the supervision of the Art Director of Culture Trip, Giles Dil and the assistance of Ishmail Ali as an extra animator. I used some complicated AE scripts for the transitions and mixed cel animation with AE. I collaborated with a journalist in order to make the video a complement to the article and have several discussions with the broader team about how to represent the community.
