The HeForShe IMPACT Summit is an event on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly. Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, award-winning actor and UN Women's Global Goodwill Ambassador, Anne Hathaway, and actor and activist Winston Duke joined world leaders, global CEOs, university presidents and activists were there to unveil groundbreaking solutions to achieve gender equality around the world. My piece "A fourth" was played before a panel on equal pay. The world can't function if it's not whole, that is a simple truth but the statistics about gender inequality are so surreal, that it inspired me to complement the piece in my Typographics class by dedicating the numerals of my "Futura is Female" type specimen to what I learnt every-time Elizabeth Nyamayaro came. If a font can be a feminist so can you.

My Role was:

I used my mighty pen to defend equal pay for women. I was selected by the head if the HeforShe program of UNWOMEN, Elizabeth Nyamayaro, and the award-winning documentarist Pia Borg, to animate a spot for the HeForShe IMPACT Summit that I got to attend in September 2018 in New York City.I came up with the idea behind the piece, developed the style and fully animated the piece. We had to make something that would work for the event but also in Social Media. It also had the challenge of having to be understood universally, in every language. I used a frame by frame approach to give it a naive look: "equality is simple". The hand-drawn style enhance the important message underneath the drawings.
