The film portrays two lovers, separated not only by distance but by circumstances: Russia's anti-gay laws and mainstream homophobia make this an almost forbidden love.

Initially I wanted sets and props to speak to the viewer about the character's personalities, portray their subconsciousness, fears, dreams and their true nature.
I came up with the idea that one hero is a young painter and the other one is an art buyer. Nikita was hiding his true identity, Max is openly gay and that's where their relationships got so complicated. This direction opened a new path of inspiration for props, colour palette and wardrobe. Sets were heavily dressed and partly built inside two different apartments. Black void sequence is fully build on stage with a shallow pool of 200 sq. m.
