VICE original docuseries, Gaycation, follows hosts Ellen Page and Ian Daniel as they travel the world and explore what it means to be gay in other cultures. We were tasked to create a title-sequence and in-show graphics that felt raw, edgy, and fun in order to fit the overall vibe of each episode, while also feeling connected to the television network as a whole.

This title sequence was nominated for a Clio and a PromaxBDA, and featured on Art of the Title.

Role in Project
I was the lead designer and lead animator on this project. Working closely with creative director, Spike Jonze, and the team at VICE, I designed the initial frames that went on to dictate the final treatment. I then animated the title-sequence frame-by-frame, in order to emulate the look of mixed media drawn on a moving film reel. Additionally as each episode needed its own distinct title and iconography, I was responsible for art directing several other animators to create these graphics.
