Young Guns 5 WINNERS

2006: The move to make Young Guns an international competition was a a smart one; Young Guns 5 saw nearly a quarter of its submissions come from outside of the United States. Beyond the Moleskine-produced annual and the November 9, 2006 ceremony and exhibition, this year introduced a speaker series that explored the work, history, hurdles, goals and aspirations of Young Guns winners.


Soren Luckins

Soren Luckins has a background in industrial and graphic design and is a pioneer and advocate of the interdisciplinary design model in Australia.

After graduating university, Soren worked in Germany for a interdisciplinary practice where he witnessed how creatively conducive it was to combine design disciplines. Soren developed a passion for creative collaboration which propelled him to establish Büro North, bringing together the disciplines of graphic design, digital, industrial design with user experience and wayfinding within one practice.

Under his direction, Büro North has built an impressive portfolio of awards, publicity and clients locally and internationally. Soren leads a team of talented, lateral-thinking designers and oversees every stage; from brand research and client consultation to implementation and project delivery. Primarily interested in the execution of innovative ideas, Soren’s unique approach to design reflects his passion for contemporary art. He is focused on the fusion of creativity and pragmatics; balancing the demands of both to ensure exceptional outcomes.

Soren holds a Bachelor of Design and Honours degree in Industrial Design from Swinburne University as well as a combined diploma from Germany’s Facchoschule Hildesheim University. Soren is the Melbourne Chair for the ‘Society for Experiential Graphic Design’ and amongst many other awards, Soren has received the prestigious ‘Young Guns’ award from the Advertising and Design Club of New York.
