Young Guns 5 WINNERS

2006: The move to make Young Guns an international competition was a a smart one; Young Guns 5 saw nearly a quarter of its submissions come from outside of the United States. Beyond the Moleskine-produced annual and the November 9, 2006 ceremony and exhibition, this year introduced a speaker series that explored the work, history, hurdles, goals and aspirations of Young Guns winners.

Ivan Pois

I’m a creative who likes to make a lot of things.

I started my career in 1998 as a graphic designer, art director, web designer, illustrator and occasional IT guy. After a while I became a Deputy Creative Director at Ogilvy Johannesburg working on Audi, KFC, Castle Lager and Motorola.

In 2006, I moved to Ogilvy Toronto where I learned how to do integrated campaigns from two amazing women, and did “Diamond Shreddies” which found its way into textbooks, TED talks and ridiculous YouTube clips.

I was asked to join Ogilvy & Mather London in 2010 as Worldwide Creative Director for Dove. I went on to lead Dove Men and worked on Brand Unilever. Then I became Worldwide CD for Philips Consumer Electronics, and was the agency’s creative lead for all things digital and integrated.

Adam&EveDDB headhunted me to be their Global CD for Unilever where I ran Lipton Ice and Hot, and helped the Wall’s team unify over 200 ice cream brands under one global campaign. In 2016, I founded a business consultancy called, Truth & Spectacle. We help businesses own their own creativity so they can build more value and deliver better customer experiences.

Since 2017 I’m also Head of Creative at what3words, a company on a mission to help everyone talk about everywhere.

I still draw cartoons, live in London and love my work.
