Young Guns 7 WINNERS

2009: Beginning this year, Young Guns became an annual competition. Its international growth continued to shine, with nearly half of all entries coming from outside of the United States. For the first time ever, the top scoring Young Guns 7 winners were awarded grants, with project funding being awarded to visual artist Siggi Eggertsson, director duo Fx&Mat and designer Mario Hugo. The Young Guns 7 ceremony and party took place on October 21, 2009.

 

Danilo Boer

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, 26-year-old Danilo Boer started his career at AlmapBBDO when he was just 18. After three months as an intern and a year as a graphic designer, Boer won the Cannes Young Lions and became an art director. In four years as an A.D. at AlmapBBDO, working on brands like Havaianas, Volkswagen, Pepsi and Getty Images, he won several Lions, Clios, Londons, One Show, and other awards. His campaigns for Havaianas helped change the image of the brand from casual flip-flops into one of the biggest fashion brands in Brazil and the world. At 24, after six years at AlmapBBDO, Boer moved north, to BBDO NY. In New York, he was chosen as an ADC Young Gun of 2009 and listed as one of the 30 Under 30 advertising superstars. In the last two years, Boer won the first two D&AD yellow pencils ever by a Brazilian and his Guinness Bold poster earned a One Show Gold. He won the Press Grand Prix in Cannes and several Golds. His Billboard Magazine campaign was the most awarded press campaign of the year according to the Creativity Review.
