This personally funded project initially started as a spec ad, but became a passion project about more than a brand or a person. It features and is inspired by a real friend of mine Edward Spots, a ballet dancer now based in New Orleans. We met in New York years prior when he was at the Alvin Alley company. He had since moved to New Orleans where we reconnected after a job I had there and I got to know him and his story better. It ended being a short that challenges the boundaries of how we define drive and perseverance. This film is about breaking out of boxes - the ones we're put in and the ones we put ourselves in. It was a true and inspiring learning experience for me as a director and as a person overall.
