Garden of the forking paths is a fiction written by Jorge Luis Borges. I have reconstructed this enigmatic story using Chinese artefacts plundered or collected during the British colonial period (which still remain in Britain today) and British cipher machines from the Second World War as visual elements. The poetic and playful narrative fiction illustrations transport the viewer to the post-colonial picture of the West. The illustration format does not employ any one principle of perspective or simple composition, but aims to reflect the multiple possibilities of the story line and the iconic sense of interlacing time and space in Borges' work.
