Description
ArtBash is the Department of Contemporary Practices’ major yearend exhibition of student work. Work is installed in the Neiman Center’s SITE Art Gallery, as well as the entire first floor of the Neiman Center, and extending throughout the first 3 floors of the building. The main exhibition comprises juried works, faculty selections, and site-specific installations by students in Contemporary Practices, including the First-Year Scholars Program.
I created a font that utilized vertical strips and horizontal lines, so the identity looks whole composed of many vertical strips of different shapes. It refers to entering into college becoming part of a larger entity. Just like different students gather together to form a bar code or a pattern, which is CPs. I really want to push it to the edge of legibility, which leads to an exploratory way of interaction. The posters may not be recognizable from a distance, but when you get closer, it will be available for everyone to read after taking some time to explore it deeply. This is a process of breaking the unknown, and it reflects students curiosity and exploratory spirit.
