Where is the role of a graphic designer? This is a question I started to think about after studying two years of Sociology. At the beginning of my design education, I thought that our position is in the result of what we make, but recently, I realized that the best position for a graphic designer is in the middle—in the middle of research, in the middle before a result, in the middle of the process. Jincheng Shi is a visual communication designer who values the process of design and looks for possibilities on how design can be understood and expanded.
