Carolyn Hinkson-Jenkins is Director of Operations of the undergraduate departments in Advertising, Cartooning, Design, and Illustration at the School of Visual Arts. Her degrees include MSEd in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College and a BA from Hunter College. In her capacity as Director of Operations, Ms. Hinkson-Jenkins manages the overall business affairs for these departments, in addition to coordinating the curriculum for over 300 courses, 300 faculty members, and a massive student body of over 900 Advertising and Design majors, and over 600 Cartooning and Illustration majors.
She has evaluated thousands of sophomore, junior, and senior level portfolios for end of the year reviews, and for consideration for department scholarships, and competitions, and has coordinated all major departmental exhibitions for 20 plus years. And was the co-curator of the 2018 BFA Design/BFA Advertising Spring Exhibition. Recently she has served as Coordinator for the School of Visual Arts summer Arts Abroad programs to Istanbul, Turkey and Southern France. Ms. Hinkson-Jenkins is one of two recipients to receive the first Distinguished Staff Award from the School of Visual Arts.
She is a member of the Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, One Club for Art and Copy, and the National Association of African American Women. She is a doodler of art on calendars, and her work appears in the publication, Sharpee Art Workshop by Timothy Goodman. She is also a member of the New Jersey Delegation Choir, and has performed at Carnegie Hall for the concert, “A Night of Inspiration”.
