A NIGHT CELEBRATING THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN CREATIVE COMMUNITY
By Brian Denison on Oct 28, 2019
Formerly known as The Annual Show, the very first One Club Awards Denver kicked off this past Thursday night at the Cable Center. Nearly 250 of the region’s top creatives, account folks, and other heavy hitters joined in the celebrations.
The evening began with a cocktail hour, hors d'oeuvres, and some good ol’ fashioned networking under an impressive two-story video wall and a sampling of this past year’s Paper Fashion Show fashions created by local agencies and designers. Moving us on to the main event, Mercedes, the emcee, got the crowd riled up as an amazing title animation and video lit up the room. Animated by Ryan Rizzio, the show brought together the 1 theme of the show, highlighting local artists’ work from across the Rocky Mountain Creative Community.
Each category was then presented by a different industry leader. This was an amazing way to get everyone involved, put a face to a name, and help gain themselves, their companies, and the work more recognition. The presenters were none other than:
- Norm Shearer, Partner and CCO, Cactus Communications, Denver
- Quinn Lindgren and Will Patterson, Senior AD and CW at Barkley, Boulder
- Cameron Day, Chief Creative Mentor at Amélie Company, Denver
- Andy Nathan, Founder/CEO, Fortnight Collective, Boulder
- Mickey Citarella, Senior Account Director, Sterling-Rice Group, Boulder
- Matt Wade, Senior Editor, Futuristic Films, Boulder
- Jeff Kosloski and Paul Manutes, ECD and CD, UC Health, Denver
- Anne Macomber, Group Creative Director, The Integer Group, Denver
Huge thanks to all the presenters for standing up and getting involved. And a big shout out to Mickey Citarella, the most hilarious Senior Account Director to ever live for absolutely crushing it and bringing the audience to tears. We’re pretty sure we speak for all of us when we say we hope to see a lot more of you in the future.
Another huge shout out to TDA_Boulder for their powerful showing this year, taking home more trophies than any other agency. And to Madwell for taking home the coveted Best Of Show with their campaign for Visible. It’s a pleasure seeing it in real life all over the city as well. You really can’t miss it.
