THE REVIEW BRINGS OVER 100 LOCAL STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS TOGETHER
By Brian Denison on May 02, 2019
This past Saturday, some of the Rocky Mountain Region’s top creative talent joined forces for the One Club and AIGA Colorado’s annual portfolio review. Hosted inside the large lunch room at Integer’s location in Belmar, the event consisted of two sessions, each with 31 pairs of students and professionals, along with help from a dozen or so extremely generous volunteers.
As the clock struck 10 a.m., the first batch of students quickly made their way inside and met with the first of several reviewers. After about 20 minutes, the students got up and switched to another reviewer, giving them the chance to have about five different professionals review their work before all was said and done. The reviewers were also equipped with slips to nominate the best of the portfolios to be taken to the judges, where the top three students of each session would win prizes from Meininger Art Supplies, as well as the grand prize winner receiving a $1000 scholarship.
But the judges job was a difficult one. Every portfolio had something great to offer, and many got multiple nominations from reviewers. Ultimately, three rose to the top in each session. For the first session, third place went to Aleea Campbell from UNC, second place to Christian Eggers from UNC, and first place, along with a $1000 scholarship, to Eleeza Palmer from MSU. In the second session, third place went to Christoper Clayton from CMU, second place to Joey Carrasco from UNC, and first place, also with a $1000 scholarship, to Bre Meiniger from CMU.
A huge thank you to all the students, reviewers, volunteers and panel of speakers for the incredible work, and for being so open with your time and creative spirit. We hope the event made everyone feel even more a part of the Rocky Mountain Creative Community.
If you’d love to have your work recognized on an even more grand scale, we encourage you to enter The One Club Awards Denver, the official local awards show for The One Club For Creativity.
