The One Club for Creativity is pleased to team up with She Designs Books for an evening of inspiration, featuring extraordinary cover designers Jaya Miceli, Adalis Martinez, and Alison Forner. This talented trio will speak about their iconic work, stories and creative process, as well as offer insight into their roles in publishing houses as designers and art directors.
Founded by Anne Twomey and Nicole Caputo, She Designs Books exists to promote, support and celebrate women in publication design.

Jaya Miceli is the art director for Scribner, an imprint of Simon and Schuster. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, with a BFA in Illustration. She has designed iconic book covers for a diverse group of authors including Celeste Ng, Paula Hawkins, Tea Obreht, Don DeLillo, Annie Proulx, Siddhartha Mukherjee and many more.
Adalis Martinez is a New York-based graphic designer, born in Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx. Adalis is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts. She is currently a Senior Graphic Designer for Vintage at Penguin Random House and has previously worked for Harper Collins and Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Her work has been recognized by the Type Directors Club and The New York Times.
Alison Forner is the art director for Avid Reader Press, as well as the co-art director for Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint. Previously she worked as an art director at Penguin Random House and a designer at Ecco/HarperCollins. Over the course of her career, Alison has had the privilege of designing jackets for such notable authors as Jimmy Breslin, Elizabeth Gilbert, A.M. Homes, Peter Matthiessen, Joyce Carol Oates, Philip Pullman and Sarah Waters. Her work has been recognized by AIGA in their 50 Books/50 Covers Show; the New York Book Show, and in PRINT’s Regional Design Annual. A graduate of Barnard College, Alison was a professional dancer, a poet, and a print production manager before moving on to a career in graphic design..
