Michael I. Roth is Chairman and CEO of Interpublic (NYSE: IPG), one of the world's largest organizations of advertising and marketing services companies. Prior to serving in his current role, Roth was a member of the company’s Board of Directors.

Since assuming leadership of Interpublic in 2005, Roth has righted the company’s financial course and moved to make it an industry leader by defining new models that provide value to clients in a rapidly-changing media and marketing environment.

Prior to his current role, Roth was Chairman and CEO of The MONY Group Inc., a financial services holding company that provides a wide range of protection, asset accumulation and retail brokerage products and services through its member companies. Under Roth's leadership, The MONY Group diversified its business mix, broadened its distribution channels and enhanced its ability to compete in today's financial services marketplace.

Roth is a member of the Board of Directors for Pitney Bowes Inc., the Ad Council and Ryman Hospitality Properties. He sits on the Leadership Committee of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; the Board of Directors of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy and The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA). In addition, he is a Director of The Baruch College Fund and The Partnership for New York City. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable and New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Heart Steering Committee.

A certified public accountant, Roth holds an L.L.M. degree from New York University Law School and a J.D. from Boston University Law School. He is a 1967 graduate of the City College of New York.

Here Are All The Black People (HAATBP) is The One Club For Creativity's annual multicultural career fair and conference for advertising professionals and students of all levels. Now in its seventh exciting year, HAATBP brings together hundreds of individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences for a full day of panels and presentations from industry leaders, portfolio reviews, student mentoring, networking opportunities and more.

In our ongoing mission to make Here Are All The Black People inviting to all experience levels, we are pleased to announce four different tiers of tickets.

  • The Student & Intern ticket is for those who are still in school, but with an eye towards graduation and entering the creative industry.
  • The Recent Grad & Entry Level ticket engages people who are just getting their foot in the door — and want to know what do with it once it's there.
  • Introduced last year, the Mid-Level Creative ticket is for professionals with a few years of experience who are still navigating their way up the ladder.
  • The new Senior & Executive ticket is geared towards higher level individuals who have as much to share as they have to learn.

All tickets include breakfast, lunch, beverages and a HAATBP swag bag. The Student/Intern and Recent Grad/Entry Level tickets are free. The Mid-Level Creative and Senior/Executive tickets include exclusive programming, including a private kick-off networking party the night before.

Mentoring workshops are lead by top creatives from leading agencies and focus on industry topics most relevant to those early on in their careers. This is an ideal opportunity to gain insights that will help you to navigate your first years.

Portfolio / One-on-One Reviews

Top industry leaders including executive and senior-level creatives, strategists and agency recruiters volunteer their time to review advertising portfolios. This is an invaluable opportunity for you to have organic insightful conversations with top creatives in the industry.

These portfolio reviews, which last from 15 to 20 minutes each, will help you in the following areas:

  • The presentation and organization of your work
  • Constructive criticism on design and layout
  • Tips to improve or further develop your campaigns and concepts

Live Talent Pitch

A must-see event during HAATBP! Do you have a special talent or skill beyond your portfolio, one that you just know would wow creative directors if they could only see it? If so, sign up and audition for one of the eight spaces in the Live Talent Pitch!

Each contestant will showcase his or her unique talent in front of the HAATBP crowd as an innovative way to catch the eye of the industry’s top creative professionals and tell them “Why You Should Hire Me.” A panel of judges will choose a first-place winner, who will receive a $500 cash prize, while the top three presenters will will win the opportunity to interview with the participating judging panel agencies.

"Where are all the black people?"

We've come a long way from the organic question posed by advertising greats Jeff Goodby and Jimmy Smith. The highly controversial and emotional discussion between the two creatives sparked a wave of action as a response to the very serious question regarding the lack of diversity in the creative field. Immediately, The One Club for Creativity seized the opportunity to move beyond words and created action. In 2012, The One Club developed a diversity-focused event entitled “Where Are All The Black People? A Creative Career Fair.”

A few short years later, the "W” from Where Are All The Black People was removed, changing the question to an emphatic statement. Now in its seventh year, HAATBP is a highly regarded event, giving young participants numerous opportunities to interact with top creative professionals for networking, interviews, portfolio reviews and mentoring, and those with more industry experience to develop professionally and help shape the diversity conversation from within.
