True Colours / STABILO

Description

TrueColours: the world’s first warning system for hidden risks in online terms and conditions.

The two biggest lies on the Internet are: “I have read the terms and conditions,” and “I agree to them”. It’s a fact that nobody reads long and complex terms and conditions online, yet we all agree to them, consequently paying with our privacy. But what if we could assess terms and conditions at a glance, because someone had marked the most important bits as if with a highlighter? TrueColours by STABILO, a new browser plug-in, highlights the critical sections in terms and conditions in order for you to recognise these dangers easily: green for “noteworthy”, yellow for “questionable”, red for “critical. And it warns you automatically about sites that contain policies you do not agree to. Keep your privacy private – as everything in black and white is shown in its true colours.

The free plug-in "TrueColours" is now available from the Google Chrome Web Store and via www.truecolours-marker.com
The free app is available in the Apple App Store.

Objective

Instead of ignoring all legal implications, for the first time we can actually judge terms and conditions easily. As everything in black and white is shown in its true colours.

Technical Challenge

Understanding technical details and communicating with Programmers. Finding a legal way to deal with database as laws in Germany are pretty crazy (in a good way). Hours and hours of meetings with Lawyers and Programmers and connecting them together. Overall, one hell of a project. Super happy to see it produced, now lets find out what STABILO does with it in the future.
