Facebook 1914 / Museum of the Great War

Submitted By DDB PARIS

Description

What if facebook had existed in 1914 ?

Objective

To promote the Museum of the Great War and spread their vision of WW1, we imagined what French people would have posted on facebook if... it had existed in 1914.

We did not create a usual brand page, but a page that really looked like a personal profile. The profile of Leon Vivien, an ordinary young man torn apart from his family and thrown into WW1 slaughter. We told his life through hundreds of posts and comments, plus dozens of documents and objects from the museum collection.

At the launch, in april 2013, more than 10 months of posts were already available on the page. Then we added some new posts everyday, for a month and a half.

Day after day, week after week, we turned history into a human story. A story with twists and turns, that you could follow like a serie. A story that really got the press attention and finally made french people subtly realize how lucky they were to live in a peaceful country.
