UX Movie Magic / Adobe

Description

How did we cement Adobe XD’s position as the leading UX software and kill the competition? The Terminator. Using Adobe XD, we collaborated with prominent film design studio Territory to reimagine the “heads-up display” from 1991’s “Terminator 2”. We also created an XD Publish Prototype, and a UI Kit to inspire designers to test out Adobe XD for themselves, as well as a Behind the Scenes video.

Objective

Adobe XD was a late entry into the quickly expanding UX design tool space and lagged competitors in features and capabilities. Millennial designers were also more likely to see Adobe as “outdated” or a corporate entity, so we needed an aggressive move to win back the hearts and minds of the younger designer audience.

Technical Challenge

With zero paid media budget behind this campaign, we knew we had to do something that would catch the attention of journalists. We were also being measured on earned media hits, and depth of messaging within those articles, which meant every part of this project had to serve a purpose and get headlines.
