Landing page and library card application redesign / The New York Public Library

My aim was to create an enjoyable intuitive experience when signing up for the online
library card, and to inform patrons of the Library’s o4erings in a dynamic manner.
The NYPL was aware that the navigation to the library card online application and the
application itself were overwhelming and confusing, and wanted to change the patrons’
Personally, I learned about the intricacies of designing for such a broad audience, and to find
elements that might appeal to all ages, such as substituting the fill-in application format with with a
short multi-step application that is engaging and provides a break from text with images.
Something I will keep in mind for the future, and I would have liked to have done for the NYPL
project is, to interview a wider variety of patrons so that I could better understand their needs and
the way they use the library system.
