Pot Dealer Vol.1 / Ben Sanders
Submitted By Élise Rigollet
Pot Dealer Vol. 1 is a catalog of all 160 painted face pots made between 2014-2018 by Los Angeles-based artist, Ben Sanders. In addition to the array of beautiful and colorful photos, there is a short essay about the genesis of this ongoing project. In the back of the book, a page of stickers and blank pot templates are provided so you can make your very own face pot.
(The first photograph was taken by Josh Schaedel.)
We worked closely with the artist to develop the book’s contents, which includes images of more than 150 pots divided into themed chapters, an essay about the project’s genesis, and portraits of collectors who have amassed a significant number of pieces from this body of work ('Pothead' section). The book concludes with a series of illustrated pot templates and sticker sheet, allowing readers to customize their own pots. Pot Dealer is coil bound and its duplexed cover features a tip-on image, foilstamped type, and glitter sticker—a playful twist on dollar store discount stickers.
