A traditional footwear brand takes a bold step in a new direction.
How does an Italian heritage brand make its mark in a rapidly evolving industry? Alberto Guardiani teamed up with British youth culture publication i-D Magazine to launch an international shoe design competition for the creative community.
Judged by a panel of industry superstars including i-D’s Editor in Chief Terry Jones, and Vogue Japan Editor-at-Large Anna Dello Russo, the winning pair challenged traditional shoe design and production.
After Italian footmakers Alberto Guardiani launched their Lipstick Heels, an immediate success in the fashion industry and a sell-out at European retailers Corso Como and Colette, how would the brand strengthen its bold new direction while pushing design limits?
By collaborating with British youth culture publication i-D Magazine, Alberto Guardiani encouraged the international creative community to submit their own designs for a chance to design the next Lipstick Heels.
The winning pair by designer Lady San Pedro features butterfly-wing heels inspired by ice skates. Integrating this into a classic red pump required craftsmanship to produce an elegant shoe that marries both form and function.
