About the Work

This film was created as a element for “Pythagora Switch” a popular educational TV-program for pre-school children in Japan. “Pythagora Switch” is known for various elements that teaches children “way of thinking’ and also “Pythagora Devices” , mechanical jingle shown between the elements. We EUPHRATES, creators of the program, are trying to develop a way to create a completly new Pythagora Device these days, and our recent challenge was to make “a device with a Story”. “The Adventures of Bi-suke Marbles” is a result of this challenge and we used and developed many techniques, such as mechanism of course, and also “cognitive science” and “power of songs” to tell a story by a marble rolling-around machine. This work has two episodes. Each episode is made of a Pythagora Device filmed in one-shot. In Japanese, marbles are called “Bi-dama”, so the main characters name “Bi-suke” means like “Marble Marbie” in English.
