About the Work

Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence is fighting to reduce gun violence through commonsense gun legislations. Teddy bear manufacturers are required to follow strict safety regulations—unless that teddy bear is a gun. Introducing Teddy Gun. Created to shine a light on the lack of common sense gun regulations. At the center of the campaign was the design of the Teddy Gun - an ironic symbol and an actual product. We launched an ambient experience appearing in places near senators and representatives in Illinois and Washington, D.C., that compared gun and teddy bear regulations. An introductory film brought this to life online, targeting those who support our cause. And a social documentary film furthered the conversation. At every touchpoint, we led people to TeddyGun.com. There, a social tool allowed users to tweet directly at their senators and representatives, putting pressure on their exact legislators.
