About the Work

Our task was to help to transform the director’s highly creative and fantastical ideas into believable and realistic moving shots. The biggest challenge was the sheer size of this short film - almost 4 minutes in length and mostly fully CG generated - covering approximately 100 shots across 7 independent sequences. In addition, most of the landscapes, environments and characters that the director designed were so unique that we had almost no real-world references to lean on. The creative challenges ranged from surreal landscapes being formed out of liquid graphical lines, to mysterious forest creatures made out of millions of leaves and twigs, planting trees across planets and getting cocooned by 100’s of colourful birds. A lot of RnD and concepting was necessary to bring the vision to life, resulting in an abundance of motion concepts that constantly evolved over time, becoming this highly visual journey through the different planets.
