About the Work

Exhaustion. Courage. Pain. For workers over 50 with extreme jobs, it’s all in a day’s work. Retirement? Not. They strain and thrive using their muscles and their wits, excelling in jobs meant for the young. The face of the American worker is changing. By 2024, the number of workers ages 65-74 will grow by 55% and these savvy workers will have the experience to redefine how they want to work. AARP The Magazine partnered with Andy Anderson to profile four older workers. Through this visual journey, we see first-hand the challenges and motivation that keeps them strong as they age.
