About the Work

When it comes to voting initiatives, people are constantly bombarded by the old cliché: visual clutter and cringe-worthy political messaging. We decided to take a less-is-more approach, stripping back the visuals and letting young people speak for themselves. Made in collaboration with artist Andrew Miller, the VICE voting campaign uses a collection of powerful iconography — democratized and stripped of color and context — to examine specific political issues. We let young people speak on the issues that matter to them, motivating others to make their voices heard by voting. How? We used people's voices to create on-air spots, social posts and more, leading them to a campaign hub where they can register to vote, listen to other people's messages, and create their own custom video to share. Together, we helped get young people to the polls in what would be the highest voter turnout in decades.
