About the Work

In 2019, the Berlin Philharmonic – one of the world’s leading symphony orchestras – was looking for an eye-catching visual concept to promote the concerts of the new season, which could be applied to outdoor, social and digital media as well as brochures and flyers. We put the focus on what people find most fascinating about the orchestra: the unique and distinguishable sound, for which the orchestra is celebrated all around the world. With the campaign we made visible what could so far only be heard. Based on the scientific phenomena called Cymatics, which reproduces acoustic waves as patterns on a vibrating metal plate, the musicians are able to visualize their exceptional sound. The Sound Images they created, became the unique visual concept for the entire season communication – lending visual fascination to the orchestra’s acoustic perfection.
