About the Work

Our initial pitch for the credits had all these little bells and whistles that were just too ambitious for the first pass. We wanted a second attempt to really do all the stuff that we had initially talked about. They said, ‘Let’s blow it out'. All the things that you wanted to do, let’s do it.’ For us, seven years of ideas just started pouring out. With this new season you get a down-low, really specific micro view of what's going on. We wanted to explore the idea that there was more under the surface than previous seasons. We created three new murals to represent seminal moments from the show itself, but in reverse chronological order. The idea was that we had witnessed history that has been memorialized lore, and we were probably going to witness more. The most complicated change was the decision to create interiors for major locations with the same visual language we used for the exteriors. We wanted to show that the interiors illustrated would be key locations in the show. In the end we got a chance to revisit everything and update what we couldn't from the previous seven seasons.
