About the Work
From iconic movies to home WiFi, everything Comcast NBCUniversal creates brings families together. Our goal was to celebrate this fact during the biggest togetherness moment of the year—the holidays. We produced a short film for daytime television in which the much-loved character E.T. returns to Earth to visit his old friend Elliott and is surprised to discover just how much things have changed. Elliott has a family of his own now, and terrestrial technology has advanced significantly, to say the least. The project was an epic collaboration: in just 12 weeks we had to secure Steven Spielberg’s blessing, John Williams’s original score, the original puppet molds, Henry Thomas (so he could reprise his role) and the inclusion of Nike’s and Reese’s products as well as dozens of other branded Easter eggs—not to mention a director. We also had to coordinate the shoot itself and the VFX-heavy post-production work. “A Holiday Reunion” ran on NBC during the famously iconic family-togetherness moment the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
