About the Work
The first computer coder? The first film director? The first developer of GPS? All women. History has often overlooked the achievements of women in tech, science and entertainment. Today, women hold just 24% of tech and entertainment jobs. And so, as a tech company of influence, Verizon created The Future Fund—to support emerging female talent in these fields.
On the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote, we started a conversation using the go-to platform for careers, LinkedIn. In a unique social innovation, we put history’s most innovative women back to work. For the first time in LinkedIn's history, we turned women who are no longer alive into unexpected influencers.
Their jobs? To start a dialogue about existing gender bias in today’s tech and entertainment industries. As female pioneers who experienced the ultimate inequalities in their fields, these historic women served as provocative reminders that yesterday’s bias is not just a thing of the past.
With zero paid media, these women “networked” with an audience of 7+ million LinkedIn users, spreading the very culturally relevant message: until we have more women in tech and entertainment, history tells us we’re #NotDone
