About the Work
Director Niclas Larsson stops time with this three-minute film from WhatsApp’s New Year’s campaign: As the New Year’s countdown unfolds, he tells the story of an entire love affair within (a slightly stretched) ten seconds.
Equipped with punch and attention to detail, Niclas demonstrates once again that he ranks among the very greats for quite some time now. He skillfully draws extraordinary performances from his actors. He artfully weaves Oscar winner Linus Sandgren’s camerawork with Jacob Mühlrad’s emotional soundtrack. Ultimately, Niclas’ sensitive work turns a simple countdown into a rich narrative about love, loss, and reunion.
